What we collect and why
- Analytics. We use self-hosted, cookie-free analytics (Umami) and Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate readership. IP addresses are not stored by Umami; GA4 data is retained on Google’s standard terms. Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating and improving the site.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is processed by our newsletter provider (beehiiv, Inc.) under a data-processing agreement. Legal basis: consent, withdrawable any time via the unsubscribe link in every issue.
- Email. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to handle it.
- Forms. Where an intake form offers to connect you with a professional firm, the form states that your submission will be shared with that firm, and we share it only with your consent given on the form itself.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell personal data, run third-party advertising trackers, or use advertising cookies. Embedded third-party content (for example a newsletter signup) may set its own strictly-functional cookies.
Your rights
If you’re in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. To exercise any of them, email [email protected]. We answer within one month.
Transfers and retention
Our service providers (hosting, CDN, analytics, newsletter) may process data in the United States under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards. We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete it.
